Radiation & Lemon Pie

No transfusions needed today, as Gary's blood tests were stronger today than in several months!

In spite of the very encouraging lab tests, Gary is really carrying a heavy burden of discomfort from the swollen nodes in his abdomen.  Still difficult walking and sleeping, and eating is something of a chore, even with delicious lemon pie in the fridge.

On the personal side of things, we are still on a high after the lovely visitors this past weekend.  Natalie and Gordon stopped by for a final farewell on the way to their Air Canada flight home.  In the evening, we again roosted for an hour on a bench in Riverside Park.

On the medical side of things, Gary saw the radiation doctor today at MSK.  That's Dr. Yahalom of my previous post.  He seems to have a lot of say in terms of getting his patients what they need, quickly if necessary.  That is reassuring.  Dr. Yahalom examined Gary's lymph nodes, from head to toe, and announced the new, modified radiation treatment plan: CT scan tomorrow; then radiation for two days, then a break, then another two days next week, and then two the following.  All subject to change, with blood test throughout to monitor everything.

Gary continues to be denied the medicine his doctors want to give him.  The two drug companies in question have refused our requests for compassionate access.  More on that in a future post.
